achtQuark Celebrates One-Year Anniversary with MCIR

It’s now been almost a year since achtQuark began its cooperation with the Munich Center for Internet Research, a new research center of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, which commenced operations on December 1st, 2015.

MCIR conducts scientific research into the societal changes accompanying digitalization and the internet. It also initiates discussions about the interplay of digitalization and society with its interactive lecture series featuring prominent international experts from a variety of relevant scientific fields.

Interdisciplinary, practice-oriented research on the internet and society

The new institute aims to act as an interdisciplinary initiator of communication between the different scientific disciplines and industries involved in digitalization. It brings together economic, technical, social-scientific and legal perspectives to develop both a truly comprehensive understanding of digitalization and appropriate solutions for society. Its objective is the development of an orientation framework that helps to successfully shape the societal change that will accompany the digital transformation of society, education, work and our personal lives.

achtQuark is proud to have produced and launched the new institute’s website on the occasion of its inaugural event, whose provocative title was “Digitalization and the Future of Work.” The website is, of course, fully responsive and is in German and English, to cater to a more mobile, increasingly international audience.

MCIR’s lecture series has adjourned for the year, but will resume early in 2017 with a number of insightful discussions on the most pressing issues affecting the digital transformation of various parts of society.

Speakers are among others:

  • Prof. Alessandro Acquisti, Professor for Information Technology and Public Policy, Carnegie Mellon University
